Study Abroad

Professor Claire Ting is the departmental advisor for study-abroad programs. Students are encouraged to discuss their plans and seek advice at any time as they consider study-abroad options.

One or two courses taken during a Study Away program may count as BIOL 200-level electives; the 300-level and 400-level course requirements cannot be satisfied by courses taken during Study Away. The specific course(s) for which a student seeks credit toward the BIOL major and/or credit toward the departmental distribution requirement must be pre-approved by the Department study-away advisor.

Biology majors will find courses that can count toward the major offered at the Williams-Mystic and Williams-Exeter Programme at Oxford programs. Past students have also received credit for biology courses taken under the sponsorship of the School for Field Studies or at universities in Australia, New Zealand, Great Britain, Costa Rica, an Norway, for example.
